BGEN, one of the UK’s longest established engineering services providers, has been awarded a prestigious RoSPA Gold Patron’s Award, recognising its sustained commitment to the highest standards of health, safety and accident prevention across its operations.

The Gold Patron’s Award reflects BGEN’s exceptional long term safety performance and reinforces its Safety First, without compromise culture, where protecting people is a shared responsibility at every level of the business. This recognition comes alongside the launch of BGEN’s first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, demonstrating how health and safety excellence sits at the heart of the company’s approach to responsible and sustainable delivery.

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the RoSPA Awards, which began as a small initiative to recognise organisations prioritising worker safety in the UK. Today, the programme is the world’s largest and most respected health and safety awards scheme, attracting more than 2,000 entries from nearly 60 countries worldwide.

Organisations of all sizes, from SMEs to global engineering leaders, enter the RoSPA Awards. In addition to non-competitive achievement awards, including Gold, Silver and Bronze, organisations can also compete to be named sector winners across industries such as construction, manufacturing and engineering, with entries judged by independent health and safety experts.

BGEN’s achievement reflects a proactive and people led approach to safety, supported by visible leadership, continuous learning and close collaboration with clients and supply chain partners. The company’s newly launched ESG strategy further strengthens this commitment by linking health, safety and wellbeing with environmental responsibility, ethical governance and long-term value creation.

The RoSPA application process encourages organisations to reflect on best practice, strengthen capability through continuing professional development and embed continuous improvement. By receiving a RoSPA Gold Patron’s Award, BGEN joins a select group of organisations demonstrating sustained leadership in protecting people at work and in the communities they serve.

Ross Watson, Head of SHE at BGEN, said:

“Receiving the RoSPA Gold Patron’s Award is a proud moment for BGEN and our people. It reflects the strength of our safety culture, the support of our clients and partners, and our shared belief that safety is personal. The launch of our first ESG strategy further reinforces our long-term commitment to safe, responsible and sustainable delivery across everything we do.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Growth Director, said:

“RoSPA congratulates BGEN on achieving a RoSPA Gold Patron’s Award. The exceptionally high standards BGEN has demonstrated are the result of sustained leadership, hard work and commitment. In this landmark 70th anniversary year for the RoSPA Awards, organisations like BGEN continue to set an inspiring example for the future of workplace safety.”
