We’re pleased to share that we’re now in the final stages of our electrical & instrumentation works, with completion expected over the next couple of weeks.
Project Update: BGEN Progress Nearing Completion
BGEN’s electrical and instrumentation (E&I) works are progressing well across all sites, with completion expected within the next two weeks.
Subcontracted by Caledonia Water Alliance (CWA), part of M Group, BGEN’s role has focused on delivering critical E&I infrastructure across four key sites, supporting accurate monitoring and control of water flows.
Scope of Works
The works have centred on the installation, integration, and testing of flow measurement systems and associated electrical infrastructure to ensure reliable performance and data visibility.
Kiplaw
At Kiplaw, BGEN delivered the electrical installation for two flow meter chambers, each equipped with newly installed flow meters and pressure reducing valves (PRVs).
Works included installing digital flowmeter displays and running cabling from both chambers back to the metering house. A secondary distribution board was also installed to power instrumentation systems, alongside signal cabling to the remote telemetry unit (RTU), enabling monitoring of site performance.
Electrical and telemetry testing has been carried out to confirm that all instrumentation is accurately recording and transmitting water flow data.
Collieston
Collieston is a mirror of the Kiplaw setup, though with a single flow meter chamber. Instead of a metering house, works were undertaken within an on-site kiosk.
Despite the variation in layout, BGEN delivered the same approach to installation, integration, and testing, ensuring consistent monitoring capability across both sites.
Pitlurg and Waterton
At Pitlurg and Waterton, BGEN supplied and installed Haldo cabinets at each site. These house digital, battery-powered totalisers, providing a reliable solution for measuring the volume of water passing through the flow meters.
These installations support ongoing operational insight and reporting, contributing to efficient network management.
Health & Safety
All works have been delivered in line with strict health and safety procedures. This has included the use of hot works permits and confined space controls where required, ensuring safe working practices across every stage of the project.
Final Stages
With installation and testing largely complete, the project is now entering its final stages. The focus is on final verification, documentation, and visual capture of the completed works ahead of handover.
The successful progress of BGEN’s scope reflects strong collaboration with Caledonia Water Alliance and a consistent focus on quality, safety, and performance.
