BGEN is pleased to announce its appointment to deliver the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) package for the next phase of electrical infrastructure upgrades at the client’s Liverpool facility. This strategically important project forms a core part of the client's wider industrial modernisation programme across its key processing operations.

Building on previously delivered work at the site, BGEN will provide a comprehensive design solution supporting the replacement of legacy cabling, containment, instrumentation, and integration with new MCCs and modern automation systems.

Strengthening a Proven Engineering Partnership

The client selected BGEN based on our track record in highly regulated industrial environments, the depth of our in-house engineering expertise, and our reputation for delivering projects safely, efficiently and sustainably. This appointment further reinforces the long-standing partnership between BGEN and the client, reflecting confidence in our ability to support major site upgrades while minimising operational impact.

Comprehensive FEED Package for Future Modernisation

BGEN’s scope includes a complete FEED package and supporting 3D modelling programme across both the Preparation Building and the VCS (Vertical Seed Conditioner) Tower. This ensures accurate planning, safe integration and efficient execution for subsequent project phases.

Advanced 3D Modelling and Digital Integration

BGEN will develop a unified, accurate 3D model by consolidating point cloud data with several existing digital models. This will support:

  • Structural and architectural components
  • Platforms, walkways, stairs and access structures
  • Major plant equipment
  • Pipework and ducting
  • Cable containment and routing corridors

This digital engineering environment enhances spatial coordination, reduces installation risk and supports alignment with the client’s wider upgrade programme.

Electrical and Instrumentation FEED Design

Our multidisciplinary engineering teams will deliver a full suite of FEED outputs, including:

  • Power distribution strategy and single-line diagrams
  • Low Voltage design and modelling calculations
  • Cable routing, sizing and containment design
  • Lighting design for the Preparation Building
  • Earthing and bonding strategy
  • Instrumentation layouts and network diagrams
  • Block cable diagrams and full cable schedules

These deliverables form a robust foundation for a safe, reliable and future-proof electrical installation.

Engineering Support, Risk Management and Governance

BGEN will provide engineering and project support throughout the FEED phase, including:

  • Site surveys and verification work
  • Technical query management
  • Project engineering and planning
  • Stakeholder coordination
  • Regular digital model walk-throughs and design reviews

This structured governance approach ensures the FEED package meets cost, performance and schedule expectations while de-risking the detailed design and construction stages.

Embedding Sustainability Through Carbon-Aware Design

As part of our commitment to sustainable engineering, BGEN will implement a Carbon Management Plan in partnership with Tunley Environmental. This will quantify CO₂ impacts, minimise embodied and operational carbon, and ensure the design aligns with the client’s long-term environmental objectives, including their journey toward Net Zero.

Delivering Engineering Excellence for Industrial Facilities

This project reinforces BGEN’s position as a trusted engineering partner for global industrial operators. By combining technical expertise, digital engineering capability and a sustainability-led approach, BGEN will deliver a high-quality FEED package that underpins the safe and successful modernisation of the Liverpool facility.
