Delivering Advanced Solutions for Severn Trent Water

Delivering Advanced Solutions for Severn Trent Water
Case study

Client Requirements

Severn Trent Water required critical upgrades to its electrical and mechanical systems. A requirement to enhance the existing BIM model from LOD 300 to LOD 350, incorporating vendor data and ensuring the design meets operational and maintenance access requirements.

The installation phase needed to align with strict industry standards, including WIMES and CESWI. In addition, the client expected thorough testing and certification to ensure all systems were safe, reliable, and compliant.

Our Solution

BGEN implemented a tailored approach to meet the client’s objectives efficiently and effectively, managing every phase from design, installation and testing. The BIM model was finalised at LOD 350, incorporating vendor drawings to ensure precision and seamless integration with mechanical equipment, piping, and instruments. The designs were carefully developed to include detailed configurations for electrical and instrumentation systems, such as cable layouts, support structures, and pneumatic connections, ensuring all requirements were met.

During the installation phase, BGEN ensured that all instrumentation, panels, and cabling were expertly installed in strict compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Lifting, craneage, and on-site supervision were meticulously managed to ensure timely delivery and minimise disruption. Testing was a cornerstone of the project. Extensive loop, pressure, and functionality tests were conducted, with all activities documented using industry-standard templates to verify compliance and reliability.

Additionally, BGEN provided comprehensive operational and maintenance manuals for all installed systems to support ongoing functionality.
