Pharmaceutical Grade Salt Plant
Client Requirement:
British Salt Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Chemicals Europe, required the construction of a new pharmaceutical-grade salt plant within its existing facility at Middlewich. Titan Salt designed the piping and instrumentation diagrams and 3D models, while Galliford Try were responsible for partial design works, civil, structural support, and mechanical support.
To support the completion and handover of the project BGEN have been selected as the principal contractor for the installation, testing, and handover of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services for the full project along with partial design for the Dry Side along with a detailed design for the items to produce the fabrication and installation drawings.
Our Solution:
As a principal contractor, BGEN provides a comprehensive solution including supply, installation, testing, and handover for the pharmaceutical-grade salt plant in Middlewich.
BGEN’s approach ensures compliance is at the heart of the project to ensure the facility meets industry standards. Starting with the materials and installation from the process piping at ASME B31.3 designed to prevent and reduce the likelihood of failure, along with high-grade plastic piping to manage the overflow of the salt from the vessels. To ensure minimum disruption to the site, reduce carbon footprint and speed up the project all steel piping is fabricated offsite in the BGEN, St Helens fabrication facility and transported to be installed minimising impact on site, speeding up the project delivery and reducing the environmental impact.
BGEN will undertake the assembly and installation of all supplied static equipment, ensuring compliance with vendor specifications, along with the supply and installation of four intelligent MCC’s with busbar fault rated at 25kA and 400A rated incomers phase failure and surcharge protection.
Once completed the client will benefit from a fully compliant facility designed to produce pharmaceutical-grade salt.
