Quality Week 2025
In today’s complex and highly regulated industries; whether in controlled environments, critical infrastructure, or mission-critical operations, quality is more than a compliance requirement. It’s a strategic enabler. This year’s World Quality Week theme, “Quality: Think Differently,” encourages organisations to challenge traditional approaches and embrace innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
At BGEN, we’re proud to support this initiative by exploring three key pillars of quality transformation: Alignment, Performance, and People.
Alignment: Embedding Quality into Strategy
In sectors where precision and reliability are paramount, aligning quality with organisational strategy is essential. At BGEN, we embed quality into our decision-making processes through initiatives like Lean and 5S, which have been successfully implemented at our Penketh site. These efforts reduce waste, streamline operations, and create space for innovation and product development.
Our Integrated Operating Model (IOM) within the One Point management system ensures that major projects follow structured compliance checkpoints, strengthening delivery and enhancing customer satisfaction. This alignment helps us meet the expectations of clients operating in tightly regulated environments, where quality must be built into every stage of the process.
Performance: Proactive, Data-Driven Quality
In mission-critical environments, performance is not just about outcomes, it’s about foresight. BGEN’s Quality Risk Register captures potential risks, their impacts, and mitigation strategies, ensuring that we remain agile and responsive.
We also conduct trend analysis on audit findings, categorising and visualising data to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities. These insights drive operational efficiencies and help maintain our ISO certifications, vital for clients who depend on consistent, high-quality delivery.
Thinking differently about performance means asking: Are we measuring what truly matters? And how can we use data more effectively to drive proactive quality improvements?
People: Collaboration at the Heart of Quality
Quality is not the sole responsibility of a department, it’s a shared commitment. In highly regulated and mission-critical sectors, collaboration across teams and disciplines is essential to building a resilient quality culture.
At BGEN, we empower individuals across all functions to take ownership of quality. Whether it’s reviewing procedures, contributing to policy development, or sharing best practices, collaboration is key. By working together, across engineering, operations, compliance, and beyond we unlock new ideas, raise standards, and improve performance.
This inclusive approach not only enhances customer satisfaction but also drives sustainable growth. When people collaborate with purpose, quality becomes a living part of the organisation, not just a process.
“Thinking differently about quality means recognising that innovation and compliance are not opposites, they’re partners. In highly regulated and mission-critical environments, collaboration across teams is what transforms good processes into great outcomes. At BGEN, we’re committed to embedding quality into every decision, every project, and every person.” Gavin Punshon, Group Quality and Environment Director, BGEN
A Call to Action: Think Differently, Collaborate Boldly
World Quality Week is a reminder that innovation starts with mindset. For organisations operating in critical environments, thinking differently about quality means:
- Aligning quality with strategic goals
- Using data to drive performance
- Empowering people through collaboration
At BGEN, we’re committed to evolving our quality practices to meet the demands of our clients and the industries we serve. Let’s continue to challenge the norm, collaborate boldly, and deliver excellence, together.
