CCF LEV Interim Project – Spray Cell 1

CCF LEV Interim Project – Spray Cell 1
Case study

Client Requirement

The client required the installation of six Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems in Spray Cell 1 of the CCF Building. The aim was to control and dilute contaminated air in both confined tank spaces and inner hull areas, safeguarding personnel, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

The solution needed to operate independently of existing control systems while integrating seamlessly with emergency stop circuits and fire alarms. The client also sought a reliable contractor to act as Principal Contractor under CDM regulations. This project required close collaboration with third-party specialist LEV suppliers.

Our Solution

BGEN provided a complete solution for the design, supply, and installation of the LEV systems within a tight timescale to meet production requirements.

We installed six LEV systems: two with 15kW fans for tank confined spaces and four with 37kW fans for inner hull spaces. Electrical control panels, wiring, and containment systems were installed to ensure independent operation and integration with emergency systems.

Temporary filtration units were supplied to manage airborne contaminants effectively during the interim phase. Structural modifications, including ductwork routes and penetrations, were carried out to optimize system performance.

BGEN acted as the Principal Contractor, overseeing all site activities under CDM 2015 regulations. A dedicated site manager ensured smooth project delivery with a focus on safety, quality, and compliance.

Client Benefits

  • The newly installed LEV systems provide effective air quality control, significantly improving personnel safety in confined spaces.
  • The independent control panel allows for reliable system operation and seamless integration with emergency protocols, enhancing safety compliance.
  • BGEN’s efficient project management ensured the system was delivered within a fast-track schedule, minimising disruption to operations. Acting as Principal Contractor, we provided full compliance with CDM regulations, delivering a safe and quality-assured installation.
  • Temporary filtration units further enhanced air quality, offering a flexible solution adaptable to future needs.
