Our Net Zero Ambitions
We are in a Climate Emergency and as a business we need to play our part to reduce carbon emissions and limit the global impacts of climate change.
Our mission is to create a lasting legacy through the consistent, safe and sustainable delivery of our engineering solutions and to help define the next generation of the company.
Understanding the sources of carbon emissions produced as part of our business activities is key to identifying where our reduction efforts should be focused and where we can have the most impact.
We have completed a baseline GHG Carbon Assessment in line with ISO:14064, which provides us with a solid understanding of our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions and a robust foundation on which to base our reduction activities. This report tells us that we need to focus on our vehicle fleet, identifying more efficient and sustainable transport and logistics options and our downstream supply chain. This will require collaboration with our suppliers and subcontractors, to ensure that our goals are accomplished, and the impacts of climate change are minimised.
Science Based Targets in line with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
We are committed to making carbon reductions that are in line with science and achieving Net Zero in line with government targets. BGEN Ltd was acquired by M Group on the 30th of October 2024. M Group have carbon reduction targets for Scopes 1 , 2 and 3, that have been validated by the SBTi. Following the acquisition of BGEN Ltd, a re-baselining activity has been triggered by M Group, to incorporate BGEN’s carbon emissions into their carbon emissions data and reduction targets.

Firecrest Zero Our Net Zero Carbon Head Office
Firecrest Zero.
To enhance our commitment to environmental sustainability, we developed a proof of concept to achieve net-zero carbon at our head office location, Firecrest Zero. The below initiatives and technologies have been implemented:
- ASHP to remove the use of natural gas
- LED lighting with intelligent controls
- Solar Panels on the roof generating renewable energy
- Electric charging points for vehicles
- Solar film on the SW and SE elevations to reduce solar gain
- ‘Smart’ car park lighting and security powered by solar and wind
- Water saving technologies in bathrooms and kitchens.
- Energy performance monitoring system
- ‘Smart Socket’ technologies to mange energy consumption of small appliances
Firecrest Zero currently holds net zero carbon status, with residual emissions from employee commuting, waste recycling, remote working and other business activities quantified and offset on an annual basis. We want to reduce the level of offset required year on year and are continually working to trial new technologies, such as smart sockets and implementing behavioural change campaigns.
Residual emissions are offset with verra approved nature-based projects.
