Summary

BGEN Ltd operate the DV2 Framework Contract in a joint Venture with WGM Engineering in Scotland. (WGMB JV) operating under NEC 4. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be part of a project team based in our office in Grangemouth.

Purpose

You will be responsible for all commercial aspects of multiple projects to deliver the expected contract margin for BGEN Ltd whilst delivering the excellent, efficient service that Scottish Water expect. You will also be commercially responsible for the DV2 framework for BGEN, along with a key contact between the Joint Venture commercial teams. You will also be commercially responsible for major projects awarded via the Scottish Water MCC/SI framework.

Organisation

The Job Holder shall report to the Commercial Manager and working in close partnership with Key Account Managers, Project Managers.

Principal Accountabilities

    • Interim Valuations, Variations, Final Accounts, internal weekly progress reports detailing hours spent / earned. Subcontract Payment Certificates, Cost Value Reconciliation's.
    • Ensure full submission of all contractual notices is always being strictly adhered to utilising the Unifier software provided to effectively administer the NEC4 Contract.
    • Compensation Event Quotations.
    • Subcontract costs against allowances, Labour Allocation sheets, monitor Boulting Prime Costs to ensure project costs are aligned to achieve contract margin. Use and update of internal project database to observe / progress Labour, material, plant, staff, prelims costs etc.
    • Control of Risk management techniques.
    • Subcontract orders and project tenders and pre-contract information in conjunction with Work Key Account Managers.
    • Monitoring of material purchases to ensure materials are bought within tender allowances, where possible
    • Manage the effective commercial delivery of projects in line with overall framework contract margin.
    • Keep Framework Key Account Manager & Commercial manager aware of specific cost overruns or risk to effective delivery.
    • Undertaking of any other duties that are deemed necessary for the proper execution of the role of Quantity Surveyor.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years' experience

Related Degree in Quantity Surveying

Full Driving Licence

Job Related Experience

Essential

  • Experience working with multi-discipline contracting organisation.
  • Experienced in working under the NEC contract format.
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Project
  • Ability to act on own initiative.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the organisation.

Desirable

  • Experienced working within a framework contract.
  • Utilisation of a contract administration tool such as Unifier
  • Utilities experience.
