The Project

Eight 95 tonne furnaces were fabricated and installed for recycling and renewable energy centres, comprising:

  • Fuel feed sections
  • Primary and secondary chambers
  • Fuel gas ducts

Site welding minimised with extensive offsite fabrication facility

  • Through our design modelling process our teams were able to create minimal subcomponents for efficiency of installation, ease of transportation and fabrication.
  • Partial assembly of the 10 designed components was completed at our dedicated 9000m2 fabrication facility , prior to transportation.
  • By building key components off site, taking advantage of our large facilities and cranage capability, risks associated with on site fabrication were reduced.
  • Similarly, the time of on-site installation was minimised.
Partial assembly of large components takes place prior to transportation
The feed trays for the furnaces are installed after being fabricated off-site and transported by BGEN.

Proactive project management to ensure objectives met

Our project management team were at the forefront of driving the project at the critical design stages.

Our flexible approach meant that not only could we accommodate and facilitate changes within the design process, but a proactive working interface with main contractors and other subcontractors ensured objectives were met at each stage.

Ensuring critical stages are delivered on time

Time of on-site installation minimalised to days.
Through design modelling process, transportation process is eased.

Ability of construction to reach milestones

Working amongst many subcontractors, BGEN were able to adapt the build plan to ensure that milestones were kept, even when other key areas suffered unplanned delays.
For example, our team were able to bring in multiple cranes to lift across unplanned voids when slab construction was delayed as well as alter the build sequence and access points.
